I would hope that I don't love my characters to the point it effects the story. In fact i'm only five chapters into my current story and I can already see revisions and changes to be made. I fell into a bit of the i'm in love with my characters bog, and i'm working to fix it so my story turns out how I want it to.
Sure I love them, but my story comes first. -------------------- I write because I love it, not to amuse you.

I once read that if the writer doesn't care for their characters, neither will the reader. This goes for good guys, bad girls, and everyone in between. In other words, it shows in the prose if the character blows. Nice.
